retrospect, redux.

October 30, 2007

yes, mike. you were more right than you thought. retrospect really is the time machine that lets you know that you were wrong.

in the toilet, when you ask yourself who you’re kidding, the answer, more often than not, is you. after all, that hand on your knee (back in the main room, naturally) is neither accidental nor yours.

you forget, of course, who you are, at times. you forget that you have big plans, just like everybody claims to have. you, however, are drawing your map and simultaneously following it.

pav put it succinctly today. you keep putting yourself down. let’s take a jump backwards, shall we?

I don’t know you very well.
You need to stop being so negative and get some self esteem.
You’re very intellectual, but you need more self esteem.
I don’t know you too well, but you seem okay.
You’re great, but I think we’re too different now.
I’ve changed, you haven’t.

Leave it to an anonymous olive skinned gent to reveal the sun behind the clouds.
You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.
Your definition of “really bad” is completely opposite from mine.
You need to stop apologizing for yourself. You’re not doing anything wrong.
I’ll be sure to take you there sometime then.
You’re really cute. I’m not just saying that.
If I weren’t taken, I’d be all over you.
I bet you looked cute [in those trunks].
Whatever. I think you’re gorgeous.

so maybe it’s a bit lazy to quote oneself, but here goes nonetheless:”life goes on. there is no meaning to it, there is no end product or goal or anything. we are here on a curveball course, a flailing rock chasing its shadow. by chance. there is no god. we have no obligations to a higher power – only to ourselves and those around us. don’t think of it as depressing. think of it as enlightening; think of it as a second chance, a new beginning.”
