on cell division.

March 11, 2008

nature will form bodies, creatures, in a petri dish.

no form or logic. just a strange smell that binds us as egg does to ham.

we are faulted and messy.

the question, then:

if we manage to be here and now, why do we ask “how did we get here?” instead of asking “how do we stay where we are?”

why not: “where do we go from here?”

because that is largely out of our control. we grant ourselves more agency than we deserve.

we still have the power to prepare ourselves, to learn to find doors where there were none before, and be ready to knock on them at the right time.

lack or diminishment of agency (upon the outside world) doesn’t equate to obliteration of hopes and dreams! there is still a lot of agency in ourselves and we must use that to survive.
